Sarwat Husain
Sarwat Husain is the founder and president of the Council on American Islamic Relations-San Antonio (CAIR-SA), a chapter of the largest civil rights and advocacy organization for Muslims in the US and Canada, headquartered in Washington D.C.. She also serves on CAIR’s national board. Sarwat is a frequent lecturer and presenter on inter-religious dialogue, and is a founding member of the American Muslim Democratic Caucus and former president of the Texas Muslim Democratic Caucus. She serves as as a guest columnist for the San Antonio Express-News, is a member of UT Health Science Center’s Council for Excellence in Women’s Health, and is the founder of Al-Ittihaad News.
