Coffee & Conversation: Virtual Home Hospitality Event

Through this event, we aim to replicate the “home hospitality” experience that is a crucial component of our visitors’ programs while in San Antonio and a wonderful (and greatly missed!) opportunity enjoyed by our members. Due to the scheduling challenges that accompany international time zones, this event will be taking place in in the morning, instead of during dinner time as is usually done. 

This opportunity requires having access to a computer or mobile device with video and audio capabilities. We will provide the Zoom link to participants before the event. Our team will facilitate introductions and initiate some great conversations with the various fun activities we have lined up.

In order to ensure this is comfortable experience for all, with intimate conversations and valuable interactions, we are limiting this opportunity to only five hosts/families. Ghana

Mr. Maxwell KUDEKOR

Mr. Maxwell Kudekor is currently Eastern Regional Correspondent at Joy/Adom News and the Eastern Regional Chairman and President of the Ghana Journalist Association. The Multimedia Group conglomerate for which Mr. Kudekor works is the oldest independent broadcaster in Ghana with an estimated audience of 5 million. Mr. Kudekor has taken extensive steps to quadruple the membership base of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Eastern Region and helped organize trainings for journalists on media ethics and elections reporting.

South Africa

Ms. Nokuthula NTULI

Ms. Nokuthula Yvonne Ntuli is the Deputy Editor of The Witness Newspaper where she covers the political beat in the province of Kwa Zulu-Natal. Her work as an investigative journalist has led to the suspension of numerous provincial government officials, including the municipal manager of the Msunduzi Municipality in Pietermaritzburg. Ms. Ntuli also covers municipality council meetings to inform and empower local readers with knowledge that they can use in their daily decision-making related to local government matters. As the first black deputy editor of the oldest newspaper in South Africa, Ms. Ntuli is committed to breaking boundaries to further positive change in the media.

Zambia

Mr. Onishias MAAMBA

Mr. Onishias Kamana Maamba is a News Editor for Capital FM, a station which strives to be objective in its reporting of political news. Mr. Maamba oversees the newsroom operations from planning to copy editing and managing reports. He has also participated in media law reform activities and is a member of the Chipata Press Club where he worked as Secretary and was instrumental in organizing trainings, discussion meetings and mentoring up-and coming journalists.

Zambia

Ms. Mercy BANDA

Ms. Mercy Manuwaka Chinyamunyamu Banda is a journalist for the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation, a public media organization consisting of three radio stations and three television stations. Ms. Banda’s work involves checking the news copy, verifying stories, and weeding out misinformation. In addition to her work leading a news team, she leads a local press club which creates projects to strengthen journalism in the region. One such project entails running a journalism school in collaboration with the Examinations Council of Zambia, which offers associate degree training.

Eswatini

Mr. Zwelethu DLAMINI

Mr. Zwelethu Nicholas Dlamini joined the Eswatini Observer (formerly Swazi Observer) newspaper in 2017 as a news reporter and now works as an investigative reporter for the weekend edition of the publication.
